Family Support Practitioner – Part‑time (22.5 hrs/week)

About the role

Join Barnardo's Healthy Family Team in Thundersley and the Castle Point area as a part‑time Family Support Practitioner. You will work directly with children aged 0‑5 and their families, delivering evidence‑based interventions to promote healthy development and strong parent‑child relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and group support to children, young people and families, using a range of interventions.
• Partner with parents/carers to empower them and improve outcomes for their children.
• Collaborate with children’s services, health agencies and community partners to deliver coordinated care.
• Conduct developmental and health reviews at key stages and organise integrated two‑year reviews.
• Deliver the Healthy Child Programme, promote the Baby Friendly Initiative and support families through group sessions.
• Run virtual ECFWS sessions and provide brief interventions where parental conflict is a risk factor.
• Lead health‑promotion activities in family hubs, delivery sites and external events.

Required profile

• Minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification for practice.
• Experience working with children in school, home or community settings.
• Confidence delivering advice and support to parents and carers.
• Good understanding of accurate record‑keeping and GDPR compliance.
• Empathy and ability to build relationships with vulnerable children and adults.
• Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.
