Family Support Worker – Reading – £15-18 per hour

About the role

Prospero Health & Social Care is seeking a Family Support Worker to join its temporary team in Reading. You will work directly with vulnerable children and young people, helping them build resilience and develop positive coping strategies while supporting their families.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and group support to children and young people in a variety of settings.
• Collaborate with families, schools, social workers and healthcare professionals to coordinate care plans.
• Monitor and record progress, ensuring safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed.
• Adapt support approaches flexibly to meet the changing needs of service users.

Required profile

• Minimum six months experience working with children or young people in a support capacity.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexibly across different settings and schedules.

• Effective communication with children, families and multidisciplinary teams.
