FE Student Pastoral Support and Engagement Officer

About the role

The College is seeking a dynamic, flexible and proactive individual to provide pastoral support and early‑help interventions for further‑education students. You will work within the Student Support and Experience Team to improve attendance, retention and achievement by addressing barriers to engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver timely pastoral interventions for students who disengage from their studies.
• Identify and resolve barriers affecting attendance, retention and academic achievement.
• Support teaching and support staff in safeguarding vulnerable students.
• Develop and coordinate external agency and outreach support.
• Champion pastoral themes and run the centralised Pastoral Hub offering early‑help services.

Required profile

• Strong initiative and excellent communication skills.
• Proven ability to build relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience working with hard‑to‑engage and vulnerable adults.
• Ability to motivate and encourage positive behavioural change.
• Competence in developing engagement plans and using data to monitor impact.
