Festival City Ambassador

About the role

The Festival City Ambassador will be the friendly face of Edinburgh’s vibrant festival season, patrolling busy city‑centre locations and assisting residents, visitors and performers. This full‑time, temporary role runs for three months and offers an opportunity to contribute to a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere during one of the city’s biggest cultural events.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol city‑centre areas, engaging with the public and reporting any issues to the appropriate channels.
• Welcome and assist performers, artists, festival‑goers and visitors in a professional manner.
• Provide information on festivals, attractions, venues, transport and public facilities.
• Answer directions and general enquiries, delivering excellent customer service.
• Collaborate with Police Scotland, council teams and other stakeholders to ensure coordinated festival operations.
• Record incidents, visitor feedback and interactions using the designated reporting system.
• Support promotional and social‑media activities when required.

Required profile

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor.
• Good knowledge of Edinburgh and enthusiasm for its festivals and culture.
• Ability to remain calm and professional when handling complaints or challenging situations.
• Proactive, reliable and adaptable with a strong team‑oriented mindset.
• Understanding of GDPR and handling of confidential information.

What we offer

• Hourly rate of £14.51.
• Full‑time hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
