Field Engineer – OLE

About the role

Amey is seeking a permanent Field Engineer – OLE to join its Eastern & Southern team, working on sites across Derby, York, Bedford and the wider region, including Scotland and London. The role supports the CRE and CEM in delivering OLE engineering requirements on multiple Network Rail projects.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical direction to site teams during surveys and construction works.
• Sign off as an OLEC5 and issue Form E for each possession, ensuring counter‑signature within 48 hours.
• Control onsite technical activities, complete quality check sheets and upload documentation to Amey SharePoint.
• Support CRE in completing health & safety files and ensure timely reviews of WPPs.
• Raise TQ, FCN and NCR as required and attend white‑board and construction meetings.
• Deliver reports promptly and provide weekend/night duty coverage when needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience in OLE or railway infrastructure engineering.
• Ability to work autonomously on multiple sites and manage technical documentation.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and nights.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality and environmental standards.

Required skills

• OLE engineering knowledge and OLEC5 certification.
• Form E preparation and sign‑off.
• Quality control documentation (QC sheets, red lines).
• SharePoint for document management.
