Field Interviewer – Part‑time (Bournemouth)

About the role

We are looking for enthusiastic field interviewers to join NatCen Social Research on a part‑time basis in the Bournemouth area. You will visit households, conduct face‑to‑face research interviews on topics such as health, housing and transport, and record responses using a tablet or laptop.

Key responsibilities

• Knock on doors and introduce yourself to residents who have received a prior invitation letter.
• Conduct structured interviews, guiding conversations to capture real‑life experiences.
• Enter data directly into a digital device, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Report any issues or refusals to the project manager promptly.
• Travel to assigned locations using your own vehicle and record mileage.

Required profile

• Valid UK driving licence and sole use of a car with Class 1 business insurance.
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo a DBS check.
• Reliable home broadband and a laptop or tablet with a camera.
• Minimum 18 hours availability per week, with flexibility for weekdays, evenings and weekends.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.

Required skills

• Comfortable using basic technology (tablet or laptop) for data entry.

What we offer

• £20‑£30 per completed interview (average hourly rate ≈ £15.12 including holiday pay).
• Admin fees and holiday pay (12.1 %).
• Travel time paid at £4.68 per hour and mileage reimbursement at 36 p per mile (up to 10 000 miles).
• Performance bonuses: £250 after launch and additional £250 at two‑ and four‑month milestones.
• Flexible part‑time schedule that can be combined with other commitments.
