Field Interviewer – Part‑time (Bromley)

About the role

As a Field Interviewer you will visit households in Bromley to conduct face‑to‑face research interviews on topics such as health, housing and transport. Using a tablet or laptop you will guide conversations that capture real‑world experiences, helping NatCen produce evidence that influences public policy.

Key responsibilities

• Knock on doors and introduce yourself to residents who have been pre‑notified of the study.
• Conduct structured interviews using a tablet or laptop, ensuring accurate data capture.
• Record travel time and mileage in line with NatCen’s reimbursement policy.
• Maintain professional conduct, respect participants’ decisions and follow health‑and‑safety guidelines.

Required profile

• Valid UK driving licence and sole use of a car.
• Class 1 business insurance for vehicle use.
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to complete a DBS check.
• Reliable home broadband and a laptop or tablet with a camera.
• At least 18 hours per week availability, with flexibility for weekdays, evenings and weekends.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.

Required skills

What we offer

• £20‑£30 per interview (average hourly rate £15.12 including holiday pay).
• Admin fees, holiday pay (12.1 %), travel time (£4.68 / hour) and mileage reimbursement (36p per mile).
• Performance bonuses (£250 after launch and at two‑month intervals).
• Flexible part‑time schedule to fit around other commitments.
