Field Service Engineer – EPoS & IT Support

About the role

The Field Service Engineer will represent Barron McCann across the Portsmouth area, delivering on‑site EPoS and IT support to a portfolio of high‑profile retail, hospitality and banking customers. You will be the first point of contact for hardware issues, ensuring rapid diagnosis and resolution to minimise downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and repair EPoS terminals and related IT equipment at customer sites.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance visits and respond to emergency service calls.
• Diagnose faults, implement effective fixes and document all actions taken.
• Provide basic user guidance and support for end‑users as required.
• Maintain accurate service records and communicate status updates to customers.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a field‑based engineering role covering EPoS, IT or similar hardware.
• Background working in retail, hospitality or leisure environments is preferred.
• Strong problem‑solving and fault‑finding abilities.
• Excellent communication skills with a customer‑focused attitude.
• Full UK driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with EPoS hardware.
• General IT hardware installation and maintenance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office for reporting and documentation.
