Field Service Engineer – UK Travel

About the role

We are seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our international energy business, providing on‑site support for gas engines and related plant across a regional UK patch. The role involves both planned and reactive maintenance, requiring travel to customer sites and occasional overnight stays.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on gas engines and associated equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
• Produce detailed service reports and technical documentation.
• Manage van stock, tools and spare parts efficiently.
• Respond to breakdown call‑outs as part of a rota.
• Collect and manage oil samples for laboratory analysis.
• Support junior engineers and contribute to team development.

Required profile

• Experience working on gas engines, CHP or similar systems.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault‑finding abilities.
• Engineering qualification in mechanical, electrical or related discipline.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Comfortable using IT systems for reporting and diagnostics.
• Willingness to travel and work away from base occasionally.
• Gas Safe qualification is advantageous but not essential.
