Field Service Technician - Regional

About the role

Elevation Recruitment Group's Engineering Services Division is hiring a Field Service Technician for a long‑standing automotive equipment client. The role covers a regional area in South West England, servicing garages, dealerships and service centres in Bristol, Swindon, Reading and Andover. You will install, commission and maintain tyre changers, wheel balancers and alignment systems, ensuring maximum uptime for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Install, commission and calibrate tyre changers, wheel balancers and alignment equipment.
• Perform diagnostics, fault‑finding and on‑site repairs on electro‑mechanical systems.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and safety inspections.
• Respond to breakdown calls and resolve issues efficiently to minimise downtime.
• Deliver basic operator training to customers after installation.
• Complete service documentation and reports accurately.
• Maintain strong customer relationships and identify opportunities for service contracts, upgrades or replacements.

Required profile

• Experience servicing automotive workshop or similar capital equipment.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault‑finding abilities.
• Previous field‑based, customer‑facing experience is an asset.
• Good understanding of garage environments and workshop operations.
• Professional communication skills and ability to work independently.
• Full UK driving licence.

Required skills

• Knowledge of compressed air and hydraulic systems.
• Basic electronics, sensors and calibration knowledge.
