File Review Officer – Remote (Home Based)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced File Review Officer to join a fast‑growing national financial planning firm. The role is primarily home‑based with occasional travel to regional offices and focuses on reviewing client advice files to ensure they meet FCA Consumer Duty and COBS standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review client files to assess the suitability and quality of financial advice.
• Ensure advice complies with FCA regulations, Consumer Duty and COBS rules.
• Provide clear, constructive feedback and remedial actions to financial advisers.
• Identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities and report to senior stakeholders.
• Support adviser training, coaching and development initiatives.
• Monitor adviser performance, CPD activity and key performance indicators.
• Contribute to the development of compliance frameworks, processes and monitoring tools.
• Assist with administration and maintenance of the Training & Competence programme.

Required profile

• Diploma qualified (DipPFS or equivalent) as a minimum.
• Proven experience conducting advice quality or file reviews in a retail financial planning environment.
• Strong working knowledge of FCA regulations, Consumer Duty and conduct risk.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
• Confident communicator able to deliver clear, constructive feedback.
• Proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement and high standards.
