Finance and Business Operations Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Finance and Business Operations Manager to sit at the heart of a fast‑growing SME in Warrington. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will combine financial stewardship with operational leadership to shape the company’s future direction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the finance function: manage sales and purchase ledger, cash‑flow, credit control, reconciliations and produce accurate management accounts, budgets and forecasts.
• Prepare and present financial reports that support commercial decision‑making and identify performance trends.
• Drive internal improvement projects to increase efficiency, scalability and commercial effectiveness across all departments.
• Develop, implement and maintain clear business processes and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Oversee business systems, IT and communications suppliers, ensuring smooth operation.
• Manage company insurance, compliance activities and Health & Safety responsibilities.
• Own recruitment, onboarding and induction processes, handling HR administration and ensuring compliance with employment legislation and GDPR.

Required profile

• Proven finance background with experience producing management accounts, budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
• Experience using Xero or a comparable cloud‑based accounting system.
• Demonstrated ability to improve processes and make businesses run more effectively.
• Confidence to work alongside senior leadership and challenge constructively.
• Proactive mindset with a track record of spotting opportunities and taking ownership.

Required skills

• Xero (or similar cloud‑based accounting software).
