Finance Assistant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Finance Assistant to join our busy finance team on a temporary basis. The role involves supporting the Operational Finance Manager with day‑to‑day finance activities, primarily focusing on accounts receivable and sales ledger tasks. The position is based in North Baddesley, South East England, and offers hybrid working once you are fully trained.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the sales ledger, raise and verify customer invoices.
• Process and reconcile high volumes of customer invoices and remittances.
• Proactively handle credit control and chase outstanding payments.
• Resolve customer queries related to invoices, payments and remittances.
• Reconcile multi‑currency bank accounts and payment gateways.
• Assist with the monthly payroll process.
• Support preparation of monthly management accounts and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Provide general ad‑hoc support to the finance team.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a finance or accounts role.
• Strong background in accounts receivable and sales ledger processing.
• Experience working in a high‑volume transactional environment.
• Knowledge of UK VAT; EU VAT knowledge is a plus.
• Interest in using AI and automation to improve finance processes.
• Excellent organisational skills with a high level of accuracy.

What we offer

• £14.87 per hour.
• Full‑time, Monday‑Friday 9am‑5pm with a 30‑minute lunch.
