Finance Assistant

About the role

Mother Root is looking for a Finance Assistant to own the operational and administrative backbone of finance, supporting the Finance Manager and ensuring smooth day‑to‑day financial processes.

Key responsibilities

• Run weekly payment processes, preparing and authorising payments for suppliers, freelancers and partners.
• Manage bank accounts, including relationships with account managers, user access and approval limits.
• Handle staff expenses and reimbursements, including company card costs.
• Process contractor and partner invoices, verify billing details and chase missing information.
• Coordinate FX and international transfers to ensure timely clearance of major payments.
• Support compliance by partnering with external accountants on filings and payments.
• Maintain tidy finance records, organising bank statements, supplier records and documentation.
• Identify process friction and work with the finance team to improve workflows, approval timelines and controls.

Required profile

• Solid grounding in finance operations such as payment runs, expenses, supplier admin and bank reconciliations.
• High accuracy with numbers and strong organisational skills to juggle weekly cycles and longer projects.
• Excellent attention to detail, especially with bank details, invoice information and approval limits.
• Clear, friendly communication style for regular contact with suppliers, freelancers and accountants.
• Discretion and good judgement handling sensitive financial information.
