Finance Assistant – Part-time (London)

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Assistant to join our consumer retail business in Central London on a part‑time, six‑month contract. The role involves supporting the finance team with accounts payable tasks, processing invoices and maintaining the purchase ledger.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update the purchase ledger.
• Manage the Accounts Payable mailbox and provide a high level of service.
• Process supplier invoices and create purchase orders.
• Maintain the purchase order list.
• Resolve issues relating to invoices, payments and supplier statement reconciliations.
• Support the finance team with ad‑hoc tasks and reconciliations.

Required profile

• 2–3 years of experience in an Accounts Payable role.
• Proven ability to work with financial tools and quickly learn new systems.
• Strong attention to detail, initiative and professionalism.
• Excellent communication and time‑management skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office suite.
• Advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
• Outlook for mailbox management.
• Financial software such as SAP, SAGE or M3.
• Knowledge of accounting and VAT principles.
