Finance Business Partner – Edinburgh

About the role

SGN is looking for a Finance Business Partner to join its Edinburgh team. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior and operational leaders, turning financial data into actionable insight that drives commercial decisions and performance improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with senior stakeholders to support strategic and operational decision‑making.
• Challenge business plans, assumptions and investment proposals.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and medium‑term planning for assigned areas.
• Monitor financial performance against budgets, identify risks and opportunities, and produce insightful management reports.
• Analyse trends, variances and drivers to explain performance and influence outcomes.
• Develop and track KPIs aligned to business objectives.
• Provide scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis for key decisions.
• Identify cost‑control, efficiency and value‑for‑money opportunities.
• Ensure robust financial controls, compliance with policies and support audit processes.
• Promote financial discipline and build collaborative relationships with non‑finance stakeholders.

Required profile

• Strong commercial acumen and solid business understanding.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders constructively.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting.
