Finance Controller

About the role

Grundon is seeking a dynamic Finance Controller to join its Finance team in Benson. Reporting to the Finance Director and sitting on the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead the day‑to‑day finance function and help drive the company’s mission of creating a better planet.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee financial reporting, transactional finance, cash flow, working capital and tax compliance (VAT, Corporation Tax, Landfill Tax, Aggregate Levy).
• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts, delivering financial insights for strategic decisions.
• Partner with operational leaders to provide commercial guidance, improve performance and identify efficiency opportunities.
• Lead supplier contract negotiations and support procurement to achieve best value.
• Maintain robust financial controls, regulatory compliance and effective financial systems.
• Build, coach and develop a high‑performing finance team.
• Collaborate with the Finance Director, Board and external advisors on statutory reporting and strategic projects.

Required profile

• Recognised professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA or ACA).
• Proven experience leading finance teams with a strong track record of coaching and development.
• Solid understanding of financial reporting standards and tax regulations.
