Finance Coordinator (Part-Time Secondment)

About the role

The University of Cambridge Development and Alumni Relations team is seeking an experienced finance professional from within the University to join its Finance team on a 12-month secondment. Working 80% of full-time hours (about 29.6 hours per week) and reporting to the Finance Manager, the postholder will oversee day-to-day financial operations, supervise Finance Assistants and contribute to management reporting. The role sits alongside the introduction of Oracle Fusion, which is opening up opportunities to improve systems and streamline processes.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including purchasing, invoicing, expenses, banking and financial reconciliations
• Support the Finance Manager with management accounts, financial analysis, budget monitoring and reporting
• Provide day-to-day supervision and guidance to Finance Assistants, supporting their development
• Advise colleagues on financial policies, procedures and regulations, ensuring compliance with University requirements
• Build relationships across the department and contribute to continuous improvement

Required profile

• Substantial experience in finance and accounting, ideally in a complex organisational environment
• An AAT qualification or equivalent practical experience
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach

• Confidence using Excel and financial accounting systems
