Finance Director

About the role

The Finance Director reports to the Regional Managing Director (Southern) and combines accounting, commercial decision support, and stakeholder management. The role works closely with Sales, Commercial, Land, Construction and Customer Services to drive cost efficiencies, improve profitability and support strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare four‑year forecasts for the region three times a year, collaborating with the local board of directors.
• Produce monthly profit projections and six‑month cash requirement forecasts for the region.
• Manage monthly regional management accounts, including journal postings, accruals, cost of sales, cash flow, variance analysis and commentary.
• Implement best‑practice financial processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Promote a culture of commercial awareness through high‑quality MI, budgeting support and financial analysis for non‑finance stakeholders.
• Review and approve weekly and monthly cash reports and supplier payment runs.
• Maintain balance‑sheet controls and a monthly control file.
• Provide year‑end packs for statutory accounts consolidation and liaise with external auditors.
• Ensure compliance with VAT, SDLT and relevant accounting standards.
• Work flexibly between head office and the regional office.
