Finance Director – Lead Finance Function

About the role

This is a senior finance leadership position within a confidential, specialist engineering business operating internationally. You will join an experienced leadership team at a pivotal stage, shaping strategy, performance and long‑term value.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the finance function, ensuring robust reporting, controls and governance.
• Act as a trusted member of the leadership team, contributing to strategy and business planning.
• Provide clear financial insight to support better decision‑making and drive overall performance.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and planning processes.
• Strengthen visibility of business performance, identifying risks and opportunities early.
• Manage cash, financial risk and overall financial discipline.
• Partner with senior stakeholders across the business to support growth and efficiency.
• Build and develop a capable, engaged finance team.
• Ensure high‑quality reporting within a structured group environment.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
• Experience operating at Finance Director or senior finance leadership level.
• Background in engineering, manufacturing or a commercially driven environment.
• Strong commercial mindset with the ability to influence and challenge.
• Experience working within a group or structured reporting environment.
• Confident communicator, able to engage and influence at Board level.
• Hands‑on, pragmatic style with a willingness to get close to the business.
• Strong leadership capability with experience developing teams.
