Finance Director – Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Finance Director to lead the finance function of a long‑established bespoke manufacturing business in Hertfordshire. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will combine strategic oversight with hands‑on financial management to support the company’s next phase of growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the finance team, providing strategic and operational financial guidance.
• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts with commercial analysis.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow and financial reporting to aid decision‑making.
• Improve finance systems, internal controls, stock valuation, inventory and WIP reporting.
• Collaborate with production teams to enhance costing and operational reporting.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities for reporting efficiency.
• Partner with senior leadership on commercial planning and performance.
• Oversee year‑end accounts, audit preparation and external adviser relationships.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Significant senior finance leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to deliver high‑quality financial reporting and drive process improvement.
