Finance Manager – Hands‑on SME Role

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Finance Manager to join a well‑established, fast‑growing SME in Amersham. This is a hands‑on position where you will lead a small finance team while remaining deeply involved in day‑to‑day financial operations and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and support a team of three finance professionals, ensuring month‑end deadlines are met.
• Own the month‑end close process, delivering accurate and timely financial reports.
• Manage accounting for multi‑million‑pound transactions with a strong focus on accuracy and control.
• Oversee intercompany accounting across multiple entities, handling reconciliations and discrepancy resolution.
• Design and implement new models and schedules to automate pre‑payments, accruals and depreciation calculations.
• Identify and drive process‑streamlining opportunities to strengthen controls and improve efficiency.
• Prepare journals, balance‑sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules to a high standard.
• Contribute to wider finance projects and continuous‑improvement initiatives as the business expands.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Finance Manager or Senior Management Accountant in an SME or fast‑paced commercial environment.
• Hands‑on approach with willingness to engage in all aspects of the finance function.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
