Finance Manager

About the role

A growing company in Godalming is looking for an experienced, commercially minded Finance Manager to take ownership of its day-to-day finance function. The role provides accurate financial reporting, supports strategic decision-making and ensures strong financial controls and compliance. The advertised salary is £50,000 - £75,000 per annum.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day finance function and oversee financial operations
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
• Monitor budgets, forecasts and cash flow to support business planning
• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records
• Support month-end and year-end financial processes
• Produce financial analysis and reports for senior management
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, policies and procedures
• Manage payroll, VAT returns and other statutory requirements where required
• Liaise with external accountants, auditors and financial advisors
• Identify improvements to financial processes and efficiencies
• Support senior leadership with budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning

Required profile

• Previous experience in a Finance Manager, Management Accountant or similar finance role
• Part-qualified, qualified or qualified by experience (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting
• Experience preparing management accounts and financial analysis
• Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Excellent communication skills, able to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders
• Proactive and commercial mindset with strong problem-solving abilities
• Experience managing or mentoring junior team members is advantageous

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial systems
• Financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting
