Finance Manager – Manufacturing & Logistics

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead the finance function for a growing manufacturing and logistics group. The role offers ownership of end‑to‑end finance processes and close collaboration with non‑finance teams in a fast‑paced SME environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all finance operations including profit & loss, balance sheet, general ledger, fixed assets and reconciliations.
• Own weekly and monthly close, producing management accounts, KPIs and variance analysis.
• Manage cash‑flow, working capital, forecasting, budgeting and long‑term financial planning.
• Maintain strong financial controls and coordinate internal and external audits.
• Maximise ERP effectiveness (Microsoft Business Central or similar) and drive automation across finance, inventory, production, sales and logistics.
• Standardise finance processes across group entities and improve month‑end efficiency.
• Oversee manufacturing cost accounting, stock control and stock takes.
• Provide financial oversight for logistics operations, including fleet, fuel, subcontractors and route profitability.
• Oversee payroll, pensions and statutory compliance (VAT, Intrastat, EC Sales Lists).
• Lead and develop a small finance team and partner with operational stakeholders.

Required profile

• AAT, ACCA, CIMA qualified, part‑qualified or qualified by experience (QBE).
• Strong SME finance background with manufacturing experience highly desirable.
• Experience in logistics finance is an advantage.
• Proven ability to manage or supervise a finance team.
