Finance Manager – Medium-sized Design & Construction Firm

About the role

The Finance Manager will lead the financial operations of a well‑established, medium‑sized business operating in the design and construction sector. You will ensure regulatory compliance, deliver accurate reports and support strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a small finance team and distribute workload to meet monthly deadlines.
• Oversee day‑to‑day bookkeeping for all group companies.
• Supervise weekly and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Process monthly payroll and journal entries for the group.
• Lead month‑end close, handling checks, queries and disputes.
• Maintain and improve financial processes across the organisation.
• Oversee purchase ledger, sales ledger, debtor and credit control functions.
• Administer CIS and manage subcontractor payments.

Required profile

• Recognised qualification in accounting or finance.
• Extensive knowledge of financial principles, regulations and best practices.
• Proven experience in financial analysis, budgeting and reporting.
• Strong proficiency with financial software and tools.
• Excellent problem‑solving ability and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and leadership skills.
