Finance Manager – Merseyside

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Manager to join a growing professional services organisation in Merseyside. The role combines hands‑on finance management with strategic input, supporting day‑to‑day operations and longer‑term business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and performance reports.
• Deliver insightful commentary and analysis to support business decisions.
• Maintain financial controls, including balance‑sheet reconciliations and ledger integrity.
• Manage cash‑flow reporting and support working‑capital performance.
• Partner with operational teams on revenue forecasting and project performance.
• Monitor profitability, analyse business trends and identify opportunities and risks.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and wider financial planning processes.
• Assist with year‑end reporting and statutory compliance requirements.
• Provide guidance and support to junior finance team members.
• Identify and implement improvements to processes, controls and reporting efficiencies.
• Act as a key finance contact for stakeholders across the business.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a broad SME finance role.
• Solid understanding of financial controls, reporting and compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical ability with clear presentation of financial information.
• Proficiency in Excel and experience with finance systems.
• Confidence to engage with and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Hands‑on approach, strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
