Finance Officer - Funding / Projects

About the role

The Project Finance Officer will manage the financial side of grant‑funded projects for a faith‑based charitable organisation in the North East. You will ensure accurate budgeting, forecasting and reporting while supporting community partners and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead financial reporting to boards, committees and external stakeholders.
• Prepare financial information for funding applications and submit grant claims.
• Validate and process grant claims from local partners, ensuring compliance.
• Maintain restricted fund and project accounting records.
• Monitor budgets, investigate variances and liaise with budget holders.
• Set up new projects and manage approved budget changes in the accounting system.
• Produce forecasts and commentary for senior leadership.
• Support finance team with year‑end preparation, budgeting and cover during absences.

Required profile

• AAT qualified or progressing towards qualification, or studying CIMA, ACCA or ACA.
• Strong Excel abilities, as most reporting is Excel‑based.
• Experience of process improvement initiatives.
• Experience managing databases or similar data‑systems.
