Finance Support Officer

About the role

Forestry England is seeking a Finance Support Officer to join its Business Support team. The role provides essential financial and administrative services to district operations, helping the organisation achieve its strategic objectives while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Process financial transactions efficiently and accurately within agreed timelines.
• Ensure compliance with Forestry England’s financial policies and procedures.
• Provide timely financial information and reports to managers and function leads.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to gather and share relevant operational data.
• Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts and financial statements.
• Assist with audit preparation and respond to audit queries.

Required profile

• Experience in financial administration or a similar support role.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines.
• Good understanding of financial policies, procedures and compliance requirements.
• Effective communication skills for stakeholder liaison.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality service in a public‑sector environment.

• Salary of £30,105 per annum.
• Fixed‑term contract until 31 March 2029 with potential extension.
