Finance Team Leader

About the role

Forestry England is seeking a Finance Team Leader to oversee the day‑to‑day finance function for the Bellingham District Office. You will work closely with the Finance and Business Manager to ensure accurate, timely financial processing and support the organisation’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Finance Team in processing financial transactions efficiently and in line with policies and service level agreements.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, statutory requirements and established procedures.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to collate and disseminate financial information.
• Support the Finance and Business Manager in reporting and strategic financial planning.
• Collaborate with the Office Manager and Business Support team to maintain smooth operational workflows.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably with supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of financial regulations, compliance and best practice.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to work accurately under tight deadlines and deliver high‑quality results.

• Salary of £33,854 per annum on a fixed‑term contract until 31 March 2029.
