Financial Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join a growing organisation in Appley Bridge. The role involves ownership of statutory reporting, regulatory compliance and financial accounting, working Monday‑to‑Friday on‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting, month‑end close and group reporting.
• Prepare and submit statutory accounts in line with UK GAAP (FRS 102) and Companies House requirements.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and perform balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Handle corporation tax calculations, returns and liaison with HMRC, and prepare VAT returns.
• Support additional regulatory reporting such as National Statistics and environmental returns.
• Liaise with external auditors, providing accurate information throughout the audit process.
• Oversee the sales rebate programme, validating settlements and monitoring related balance‑sheet items.
• Provide technical guidance on statutory and regulatory matters to the wider finance team.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified (or part‑qualified) accountant.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly UK GAAP (FRS 102).
• Proven experience preparing statutory accounts and managing financial reporting.
• Knowledge of corporation tax and VAT compliance.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Effective communication skills.
