Financial Accountant

About the role

The Financial Accountant will be at the centre of external and regulatory reporting, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant submissions for statutory and regulatory gateways. Working closely with senior finance leadership, you will own multiple reporting obligations and act as a liaison between finance, auditors and external advisors.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts for a portfolio of subsidiary entities in line with internal timetables.
• Support the preparation of consolidated accounts for management and statutory reporting.
• Coordinate quarterly and annual regulatory financial reporting, including statutory returns.
• Provide technical accounting guidance to the finance team and stay current with reporting developments.
• Assist with financial modelling for new initiatives and business opportunities.
• Manage group VAT returns, payments, queries and act as the primary contact with tax authorities.
• Facilitate data flow between finance and operational teams to align reporting requirements.
• Oversee monthly journal review processes to maintain strong controls.
• Drive continuous improvement, automation and system‑led efficiencies.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Minimum three years post‑qualification experience in financial or management accounting.
• Proven experience in preparing consolidated financial statements.
• Strong technical accounting capability and knowledge of UK reporting standards.
