Financial Accountant

About the role

Our client, a well‑established market‑leading business in Biggleswade, is seeking a Financial Accountant to join the finance team. The role offers an opportunity to support the financial accounting function, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance and robust financial controls in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support treasury activities, VAT reporting and statutory reporting requirements
• Prepare and process monthly journals, accruals and pre‑payments
• Assist with month‑end processes, including balance‑sheet reconciliations
• Maintain and reconcile the fixed‑asset register
• Ensure investments and capital expenditure are approved and recorded per internal procedures
• Review and verify profit‑and‑loss entries for accurate cost reporting
• Support internal and external audit processes by providing timely information
• Assist with financial control processes and reporting across the finance function
• Contribute to finance‑related projects and system implementations as required
• Identify and communicate opportunities for process and system improvements
• Collaborate with colleagues across the business to support operational and financial objectives
• Ensure work complies with company policies, compliance requirements and health & safety standards

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar accounting or finance role
• ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualification or studying towards one
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
• Proactive approach with initiative
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across teams
