Financial Accountant (Part‑time, Temporary)

About the role

We are seeking an interim Financial Accountant to support a well‑known charity in central London on a part‑time, temporary basis until February 2027. The role will focus on month‑end balance‑sheet reconciliations, ledger error correction, and assisting the Financial Controller with process improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Reconcile all balance‑sheet, intercompany, payroll, and HMRC accounts.
• Maintain the sales ledger with monthly reconciliations and balance reporting.
• Post fixed‑asset and depreciation journals and keep the Fixed Asset Register up to date.
• Upload income batches from the CRM system.
• Assist the Accounts Payable team with expense, PO, and journal issues.
• Support bank account management and timely month‑end/year‑end closures.
• Help the Financial Controller with audit support and follow‑up on recommendations.
• Champion continuous improvement of finance, VAT, and control processes.

Required profile

• AAT qualification or part‑qualified CCAB, preferably with charity/non‑profit experience.
• Strong experience in VAT transactions and accounting.
• Proven ability to perform monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Excellent month‑end processing and control experience.
