Financial Controller – Construction

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Financial Controller to join a privately‑owned SME in the construction sector, based in East Sussex. Working closely with the Finance Director, you will shape financial controls and reporting as the business expands.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Manage VAT, corporation tax and CIS compliance.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management.
• Maintain and improve finance systems.
• Provide strategic financial analysis and support to the Board.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) – essential.
• Proven experience producing monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts.
• Sector experience in engineering, construction, property development or facilities management, either from audit or industry roles.
• Background in a small‑to‑medium enterprise with turnover up to £80 million.
• Ability to work on‑site two days a week and collaborate with senior leadership.
