Financial Controller – Construction/Engineering

About the role

This is a senior, office‑based Financial Controller position within a fast‑growing engineering business in Bury. You will own the finance function, partner with senior leaders and drive commercial performance across multiple construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the finance team and produce monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts.
• Manage cash flow, working capital and robust financial controls.
• Oversee payroll, VAT and CIS reporting.
• Take ownership of Work in Progress (WIP) reporting, revenue recognition and payment applications.
• Monitor project profitability and provide commercial analysis to senior leadership.
• Liaise with auditors, banks and external advisers.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager in construction, engineering or project‑based environments.
• Hands‑on experience with WIP accounting, revenue recognition and project accounting.
