Financial Controller – Fin‑Lead for High‑Growth Startups

About the role

fin-house is looking for a Financial Controller (Fin‑Lead) to own the financial narrative for a portfolio of fast‑growth startups and SMEs. You will act as the trusted finance voice, turning data into actionable insight for founders and shaping strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Own P&L, cash‑flow and balance‑sheet reporting across 5‑7 client companies.
• Manage the operational backbone – accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and VAT.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and scenario planning to align commercial reality with long‑term strategy.
• Build sophisticated financial models for fundraising, M&A and investment decisions.
• Identify risks early, challenge assumptions and influence key business decisions.
• Coach and develop finance managers and operators, building high‑performing teams.
• Drive systems and process improvements, setting standards for Xero configuration and usage.
• Contribute to fin‑house growth through referrals and brand representation.
