Financial Controller – Fintech Lending (Hybrid, London)

About the role

We are partnering with a fast‑growing London‑based fintech lender that provides innovative lending and cash‑flow management products to UK SMEs. The company has recently secured significant Series A funding and is entering a key scaling phase. The Financial Controller will own reporting, controls, operations and process improvement, working closely with senior leadership to build a scalable finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts and financial statements.
• Support month‑end close, balance‑sheet reviews and financial reporting.
• Assist with the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling.
• Oversee cash‑flow and working‑capital management.
• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with UK accounting standards.
• Identify and implement improvements across finance processes, systems and reporting.
• Provide clear, timely financial information to non‑finance stakeholders.

Required profile

• ACCA qualified preferred; ACA/ICAEW also considered with strong Big 4, banking, fintech or financial services experience.
• 3–5 years post‑qualification experience in a finance‑control environment.
• Experience in banking, fintech, lending, payments or related financial services.
• Strong background in financial reporting, management accounts and UK accounting standards.
• Hands‑on experience with month‑end, cash‑flow, audit support and finance operations.
• Proactive, ownership‑driven mindset with confidence communicating financial information to non‑finance teams.
