Financial Controller – IFRS Specialist (Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our finance team in Grimsby. Reporting to the senior leadership team, you will lead finance and treasury functions, providing high‑quality insight to support strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review statutory financial statements in line with IFRS and UK‑adopted accounting standards.
• Maintain full balance‑sheet integrity, including complex reconciliations and judgement‑based areas.
• Provide technical accounting guidance and ensure robust documentation of treatments.
• Review finance team outputs for accuracy and policy compliance.
• Drive improvements in finance systems, reporting processes and data quality.
• Act as primary contact for external auditors, managing audit interactions and planning.
• Prepare supporting documentation, respond to technical audit queries and implement audit recommendations.
• Support corporation tax returns, VAT submissions and other statutory filings.
• Liaise with external tax advisors and regulatory bodies to ensure timely, compliant tax reporting.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) or part‑qualified/QBE.
• Proven senior finance experience with strong IFRS knowledge.
• Advanced Excel capability and confidence using Microsoft Office tools.
• Experience with finance systems, reporting tools and consolidation software.
• High levels of accuracy, professionalism and stakeholder engagement.
