Financial Controller

About the role

An established infrastructure‑led group in the North West is seeking a proactive Financial Controller to own financial management across two operating businesses, including a recent acquisition. This hands‑on role will initially focus on strengthening controls, rebuilding processes and delivering accurate management information, evolving later into a commercial business‑partnering position.

Key responsibilities

• Full ownership of monthly management accounts and statutory accounts preparation.
• Strengthen financial controls, close legacy process gaps and improve cash‑flow forecasting.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, KPI development and working‑capital optimisation.
• Oversee tax compliance, including VAT, CIS and corporation tax.
• Act as a trusted finance partner to senior operational managers, providing cost‑control and profitability insight.
• Support integration of acquired businesses and contribute to ERP implementation and process standardisation.
• Lead small site‑based finance teams and collaborate with central Group Finance, Treasury and Compliance functions.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant with a solid understanding of UK GAAP.
• Strong background in management accounts and financial control.
• Experience handling manual or under‑developed finance processes.
• Exposure to finance system implementations is desirable.
• Hands‑on, resilient, delivery‑focused and comfortable managing change.
• Commercially minded with strong stakeholder communication skills.

What we offer

• Salary of £60,000 per annum, with room for increase for the right applicant.
