Financial Controller

About the role

Marshall Land Systems is seeking a Financial Controller to join the Land leadership team during a pivotal transformation from family ownership to private‑equity backing. This senior finance role will shape strategy, influence decision‑making and drive value creation across a complex, international business.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver divisional strategic and operational plans.
• Support sales and investment decisions with financial, commercial and tax analysis.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and multi‑year business planning processes.
• Maintain full accountability for the financial control environment, ensuring robust, compliant processes.
• Oversee balance‑sheet integrity, risk management, audit and financial reporting frameworks.
• Provide periodic and ad‑hoc reporting to internal leadership and the private‑equity parent.
• Manage financial aspects of international operations, including foreign‑exchange and credit.
• Drive efficiencies across Financial Control, support ERP optimisation and mentor a high‑performing team.

Required profile

• Significant senior finance leadership experience (Financial Controller, Deputy FD or equivalent).
• Background in private‑equity‑backed organisations, preferably within defence, engineering, manufacturing or complex project‑based industries.
• Proven experience in international businesses with exposure to foreign currency and cross‑border operations.
• Strong track record in financial control, reporting and governance in complex environments.
• Demonstrated ability to work in matrix organisations and influence senior stakeholders.

Required skills

• Fully qualified accountant (FCA).
• Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting frameworks.
