Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller will ensure robust financial processes, controls and governance while supporting strategic decision‑making through clear financial insights. Based in Leeds, the role works closely with senior leadership and the board to drive continuous improvement across finance functions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in line with accounting standards.
• Oversee month‑end processing, including journals and sub‑ledger reconciliations.
• Provide timely and accurate financial reporting to leadership and the board.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting and re‑forecasting cycles in partnership with the Head of Finance Planning & Analysis.
• Ensure tax compliance across all operating jurisdictions.
• Maintain strong internal control frameworks and oversee statutory, regulatory and industry compliance.
• Liaise with external auditors to ensure timely audit completion.
• Lead, mentor and develop the management accounts team.
• Drive finance system integrations, process automation and data integrity initiatives.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Proven experience in financial controlling, audit or senior finance roles.
• Strong technical accounting expertise and analytical ability.
• Experience managing and developing finance teams.
