Financial Controller

About the role

As the Financial Controller you will own the finance function of a well‑established SME, reporting directly to the Managing Director and sitting on the senior leadership team. You will combine strategic oversight with hands‑on execution, providing commercial insight and ensuring robust financial control across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the month‑end close, prepare management accounts and financial reports.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow forecasting and the fixed‑asset register.
• Handle bank reconciliations, journal entries, VAT returns and transfer‑pricing adjustments.
• Lead the annual audit process and monitor financial risks.
• Support payroll administration and manage insurance arrangements.
• Collaborate with the Operations Manager on stock valuation, inventory and profitability analysis.
• Provide financial input for tender submissions and present reports to the Board.
• Participate in international finance meetings and support ad‑hoc commercial projects.

Required profile

• Qualified or part‑qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA or AAT/MAAT).
• Proven experience in a hands‑on finance role, preferably within an SME or subsidiary.
• Strong financial reporting, budgeting and control capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills for senior stakeholder engagement.
