Financial Controller

About the role

Our client, a small but growing international freight forwarder based in Egham, Surrey, is seeking a full‑time Financial Controller. You will support day‑to‑day financial record‑keeping and ensure accurate reporting across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Process sales and credit control tasks, including sending statements, performing credit checks and setting limits.
• Manage purchase activities such as checking supplier statements, making payments and handling overseas FX transactions.
• Reconcile bank, supplier and HMRC deferment statements; pass supplier invoices.
• Control cash flow, transfer data from Boxtop to Sage, and update exchange rates.
• Prepare year‑end figures, draft accounts for accountants and review final accounts before filing.
• Produce monthly profit reports and other ad‑hoc reports for the Managing Director.
• Handle VAT returns and other statutory government filings.

Required profile

• Proven experience in bookkeeping and financial administration.
• Familiarity with Sage accounting software; experience with Boxtop is a plus.
• AAT qualification desirable but not essential.
• Previous experience in a freight forwarding or logistics environment is advantageous.
• Ability to work Monday‑Friday, 09:00‑17:30, on‑site.
