Financial Controller

About the role

This is a hands‑on, highly visible Financial Controller role within a fast‑growing consumer health startup. Reporting directly to the leadership team, you will own the end‑to‑end finance function, deliver robust reporting and provide commercial insight to support strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Own month‑end close and produce monthly management accounts.
• Prepare budget‑vs‑actual reports with detailed variance analysis.
• Compile monthly board reporting packs.
• Manage day‑to‑day financial operations, including bookkeeping, reconciliations and supplier payments.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital and develop rolling forecasts.
• Build short‑ and long‑term cash‑flow models and conduct scenario planning.
• Oversee VAT, international tax processes and coordinate year‑end accounts, corporation tax and external audits.
• Analyse product profitability, gross and contribution margins, and review manufacturing, freight and landed costs.
• Drive automation and process improvements across finance systems and strengthen financial controls.
• Support fundraising, investor reporting and review foreign‑exchange exposure.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar role.
• Strong background in management accounts, forecasting and cash‑flow modelling.
• Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy.
• Commercially astute with the ability to translate numbers into business insight.
