Financial Controller

About the role

Elevate Search Ltd is partnering with a growing organisation to hire an experienced Financial Controller. Reporting to the CFO, you will lead the finance function, ensuring accurate reporting, statutory compliance and the development of a high‑performing finance team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes, delivering accurate and timely financial statements.
• Oversee preparation and review of journals, accruals, pre‑payments and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and enforce robust financial controls.
• Produce monthly management accounts, financial reports and board packs for senior leadership.
• Review performance against budgets and forecasts, providing commercial analysis and recommendations.
• Lead the annual statutory audit, acting as the primary contact for external auditors.
• Prepare statutory accounts in accordance with IFRS and relevant accounting standards.
• Drive improvements to reporting processes, governance and internal controls.
• Manage, mentor and develop a finance team of up to 12 professionals, fostering a collaborative culture.
• Partner with operational and commercial stakeholders to provide financial insight and challenge.
• Support finance transformation projects, system enhancements and process optimisation initiatives.
• Remain hands‑on when required, leading by example.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a senior finance role.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a finance team.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and UK statutory reporting requirements.
• Experience managing month‑end, year‑end and audit processes.
• Ability to produce insightful financial analysis for commercial decision‑making.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, working closely with senior leadership.
