Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Financial Controller to join a heritage manufacturing and direct‑to‑consumer brand. You will own the finance function, support strategic decisions and help drive the business as it continues to grow.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and annual management accounts to support performance analysis.
• Manage cash‑flow forecasting across multiple currencies and monitor foreign‑exchange exposure.
• Lead the budgeting process and track performance against plan.
• Take ownership of VAT compliance for UK and EU jurisdictions.
• Oversee payroll, ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations and day‑to‑day finance operations.
• Review stock, distribution costs and sales channels to identify efficiency improvements.
• Support and develop junior finance staff while collaborating with senior leadership.
• Manage wider operational areas such as insurance, compliance and outsourced IT relationships.

Required profile

• Experience as a Finance Manager or Financial Controller in e‑commerce, manufacturing or direct‑to‑consumer environments, preferably within an SME.
• Strong technical grounding across core finance functions and the ability to work autonomously.
• Confident communicator capable of building relationships with senior stakeholders.
