Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller will lead day‑to‑day finance operations across five franchise businesses, supporting the Finance Director to focus on strategy and growth. This hands‑on, office‑based position requires a strong understanding of both accounting and the commercial drivers behind the numbers.

Key responsibilities

• Process all financial transactions accurately and timely.
• Maintain and improve robust financial controls across all businesses.
• Manage month‑end close and produce monthly management accounts.
• Oversee cash flow, debtors, creditors, payroll and related core activities.
• Supervise and develop the finance team, setting clear objectives.
• Provide financial information to directors and support budgeting and forecasting.
• Develop and monitor financial and operational KPIs for each business.

Required profile

• Previous experience at Finance Manager or Financial Controller level within an SME.
• Proven track record of modernising and automating finance processes.
• Desirable accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA) but not essential.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with Xero accounting software.
• Familiarity with Bright Pay payroll system.
