Financial Controller – Newbury, Hybrid

About the role

We are seeking a commercially‑minded Financial Controller to lead the finance function of a growing business in Newbury. The role combines hands‑on operational responsibility with strategic influence, allowing you to improve processes and support senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow management and reporting.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and statutory financial statements.
• Develop and improve financial systems, controls and processes.
• Partner with senior leadership to support strategic decision‑making.
• Manage relationships with auditors, banks and other external stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with financial, tax and regulatory requirements.
• Support and mentor finance team members where appropriate.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance professional.
• Highly analytical with strong financial reporting and systems knowledge.
• Commercially aware with excellent communication skills.
• Proactive, organised and solutions‑focused.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, evolving business.
