Financial Controller – Path to Finance Director

About the role

This is a career‑changing opportunity for an ambitious Financial Controller who wants to become a Finance Director within the next 3‑5 years. You will join a profitable £30m business in Blackburn and lead a high‑impact investment and transformation programme.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a business‑wide investment and transformation project, overhauling existing finance systems.
• Assess current software, select and embed a new ERP system and related automation.
• Own the finance train – management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and year‑end reporting.
• Work closely with the MD and senior leadership to drive commercial decisions.
• Provide mentorship and support to the finance team during the transition.

Required profile

• Qualified CIMA (or equivalent) obtained within the last few years.
• Current experience operating at Financial Controller level.
• Commercially astute with strong communication skills across all functions.
• Interest in systems and IT‑driven change.
• Experience in a fast‑paced, preferably manufacturing, environment.

Required skills

• ERP implementation or upgrade experience.
• Financial reporting and management accounting.
• Budgeting and forecasting.
• High IT literacy.
