Financial Reporting & Tax Accountant

About the role

We are partnering with an innovative business near Dorchester to hire a Financial Reporting & Tax Accountant. This position offers a chance to deepen technical expertise across statutory reporting, tax compliance and financial governance, whether you are moving from practice or already in industry.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare annual statutory financial statements and related disclosures.
• Assist with year‑end audit activities and liaise with external auditors.
• Support corporation tax computations and overall tax reporting.
• Manage VAT returns and ensure ongoing compliance.
• Assist with PAYE and employment tax obligations, including annual reporting.
• Work with external tax advisers on technical tax matters.
• Monitor changes in accounting standards and tax legislation and assess impact.
• Support Companies House filings and meet statutory deadlines.
• Assist with regulatory reporting such as Gender Pay Gap submissions.
• Maintain tax governance documentation, risk registers and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities to streamline reporting through automation and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification (or final stages of qualification).
• Strong knowledge of financial accounting and statutory reporting.
• Good understanding of UK accounting standards.
• Exposure to corporate tax, VAT or PAYE.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex financial matters.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Proactive attitude with a desire to develop technical expertise.
• Eligibility to work in the UK full‑time without restriction.
